It's been a sweet and complicated love affair, me and you. This song - Crash - makes me daydream about a cool summer night near the sea, on a wooden porch. The music plays and we hold each other close. Strings of yellow/white Christmas lights hang overhead like a canopy of irridescent stars, floating above us.

And all our family is there, watching and smiling.

It was some great romance we had in our heads, filled with so many great times, that's why I'm saddest - we didn't even get to create moments like that - in the spare time we had together, we had a good time, and I think had the circumstances been developed a little more (no school tugging you away, no split vacations for me, no fevers to shorten my waking hours) - it would have been magnificent.

But...it was still magnificent. My Ganda walking to the store to pick up medicine - for me. No Florence Nightingale, I'm sure, but you were Nightingale enough for me.

And I wished I had more time with your family - all of them. I was in terrible shape that weekend, plus my funds were running low - I had planned a trip I couldn't possibly afford, and other people spent my money for me quite well...

But every dime spent on us was fantastically spent.
